It's been raining a lot here and I am waiting for the loan of a rotavator from Gemma's cousins. That should save masses of effort in digging up the garden. I still need to sort a compost bin out too. I'm still reading gardening/allotment based books though.
Allotted Time, by Robin Shelton is a good read. A couple of mates with absolutely no clue (like me) take on an allotment and find the process somewhat healing. Although it's mainly about the feelings and the processes of starting in the allotment, there is some good information for the novice about plants and planting. For instance I don't think I'll be trying onions from seed.
